Welcome to the Irish myth, “Deirdre of the Sorrows” where symbols entwine through a mystic landscape revealing the heroine’s journey of love and betrayal. The story embodies choices between destiny and duty, love and entrapment drawing from medieval imagery such as a checkered background, the tree of life in the middle and multiple stories related to different areas of the canvas. I have used of natural pigments from the French countryside near Roussillon, as this is where some of the landscape was inspired from. Deirdre of the Sorrows will open the viewer to a different world, partially forgotten but always beckoning to be explored. It can be acquired as a stand-alone, one-of-a-kind oil on canvas artwork or bought as a limited giclée print on high quality matt finish on Hahnemühle William Turner 190 gms to suit your particular needs.
